The 2019 WIAA State Individual Wrestling Championships kick off this afternoon (Thursday) with first round and quarterfinal round action in Division 1. Action begins at 3 pm.

Tonight, the Division 2 and 3 wrestlers take to the Kohl Center mats in Madison for first round action that is scheduled to start at 7:15 pm.
Chilton/Hilbert and Kiel have a combined four wrestlers here. Tonight, two C/H athletes see their first action.
First up will be Maverik Ott, a first time state participant. At 33-10, Ott wrestles against Dalton Schams of West Salem/Bangor (26-4) at about 8 pm. Just a bit later, Gaven Lisowe is back at the Kohl Center for the second season in a row. He takes a 24-7 record into his Thursday night opening match at 152 pounds against Sawyer Hamilton (37-8), a senior from Ellsworth.
Wins by Lisowe and Ott advance them to Friday morning’s quarterfinals while losses would eliminate them.
Andrew Schad of Kiel (120 pounds) and Chilton’s Zach Boehnlein (145) are sectional champs and draw byes tonight. They wrestle late Friday morning in quarterfinal action.
Come back tonight for the most up-to-date results.
