For Chilton's Mariah Moehn, there was two ways of looking at how her day at the 124th Annual WIAA State Track and Field Championships at UW-La Crosse went in the Division 2 girls discus.

She came to state after a sectional-best throw of 120 feet, five inches. Her first throw went only 110'3". She then faulted on her next two throws and was beginning to think that a golden opportunity to medal at state (top 6 finish) was fading away.
However, that first throw was good enough to place her eighth and qualify her for the finals. She would have two more faults in the finals with a throw of 105 feet sandwiched inbetween. Moehn finished tenth, but decided to look at the positive side of things.
"I threw a better distance last year, but did not make the finals," she said shortly after competing.
"This time I made the finals, so that's a goal accomplished. I think I had problems with my finish in the circle."
Moehn placed 13th as a sophomore in 2018 and was the lone Tiger state participant.
