Kadyn Judkins, Robert Hess, and Jacob Rach each scored two touchdowns and the Husky defense pitched a shutout Friday, Aug. 30 as New Holstein beat visiting North Fond du Lac 49-0 in a non-conference football game.
In the process of rebuilding its program, North Fond du Lac came out and forced a three-and-out on the game’s opening possession.
The next time New Holstein touched the ball, however, Judkins took it 55 yards for a touchdown. New Holstein scored on five of its last six possessions in the first half to lead 35-0 at halftime.
The Huskies’ defense was equally impressive. A week after Belleville had negative 22 net yards rushing against the Huskies, North Fond du Lac managed only 14 net yards on 27 carries and had negative one yard rushing at halftime. Several muffed punt snaps by the Orioles contributed to those statistics.
The defense also added two sacks to the seven it recorded last week. Owen Heus and Dayne Jacobson intercepted passes for the Husky defense, and Mitchell Diederich recovered a fumble.
Judkins scored on a 12-yard run later in the first quarter. In the second quarter, Rach caught a 15-yard touchdown pass from sophomore quarterback Henry Schnell. Hess then celebrated his birthday with a 35-yard TD catch from quarterback Cameron Olson, and on the next possession Hess caught a 2-yard TD pass from Schnell.
In the abbreviated second half with the running clock, Michael Volz scored on a 17-yard run and Rach scored on a 6-yard run.
Playing in his first varsity football game, soccer player Nick Reedy was 7-for-7 on extra points.
The competition gets much tougher next week as the 2-0 Huskies host 2-0 Chilton in the Eastern Wisconsin Conference opener.
