The East Shore League will have a new champion as defending champ Johnsburg is not in this season’s playoff field. First half champ St. Cloud, second half winner Howards Grove and wild cards Forest and Mount Calvary round out the playoff field. Last weekend’s ESL game capsules:

Noah Koenigs ripped four hits while Cooper Olson had three base knocks and Trent Nickel and Dusty Koenigs added a pair of hits as Corbin Thompson’s 14 strikeouts blanked Marytown who received hits from Brad Schroeder, Justin Weber, Trent Winkel, Brady Thelen and Zach Kaiser.

MOUNT CALVARY 6 FOREST 4

Kaine Mertens and Logan Mertens each knocked in two runs to make a winner of Logan Bechler with Matt Wells coming on for the save. Jackson Schroeder had three RBI for Forest.

ST. PETER 4 ST. CLOUD 1

Winning pitcher Jason Schneider cranked a home run and a double while Jackson Voight had three hits. Brandon Goebel had three hits and Eric Feldner two for St. Cloud.

CLEVELAND 9 CHILTON 4

A home run by Charlie Reschke and two hits apiece by Jonathan Valdez, Billy McConnel and winning pitcher Griffin Klein lifted the Wildcats. Brian Kolbe circled the bases for Chilton. Riley Fredrichs and Kevin Broeckel each had two hits.

This Sunday’s semifinal playoffs have Forest at St. Cloud at 12:30 pm and Howards Grove hosts Mount Calvary at 1 pm.
