*Jon Sesing has announced his plans to attend St. Norbert College in De Pere and play football for the Green Knights. The New Holstein senior was a First Team All-Eastern Wisconsin Conference choice as an interior defensive lineman. St. Norbert is coming off a 6-3 season which saw them lose to Monmouth (Illinois) in the Midwest Conference Championship. The Green Knights are scheduled to open the 2020 season on September 5 at Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa.

*While there is still some hope for amateur baseball this summer (i.e. East Shore League), one long-time league has closed up for 2020. The Dairyland League, which encompasses all of Door County, announced last week that they have suspended operations for the summer.

*The first live professional sporting event since the Corona19 outbreak shut thiungs down occurred last Sunday as NASCAR had The Real Heroes 400 in Darlington, South Carolina, raced before no spectators.

*Speaking of live professional sports, Major League Baseball is pushing very hard for a return to the diamond. Currently, MLB is negotiating with the Players Union to set up a shortened season. The most talked about plan is for a three-week pre-season to begin in mid-June with opening day to happen the Fourth of July weekend. The plan calls for an 80-game schedule, as compared to the normal 162-game season, and the two leagues would see a facelift. Basically, the Eastern Divisions of the American and National Leagues would form one division, the two Central Divisions and West Divisions would do the same. Games would be between teams in your division except for a handful of inter-divisional games based on geography. The sites of these games are also being negotiated. One plan has all East Division games to be played in Florida with central games in Texas and the west in Arizona. Another plan has for games in home stadiums, but with stay-at-home orders still in place in several states, this seems unlikely. All games would be played without spectators. Playoffs would begin in mid-October with the World Series going well into November.
