Silly me—I thought it was cold a couple weeks ago, about the time of my last column.
That was before the Polar Vortex roared on in. Let me start by acknowledging how serious a weather event like this can be. An ill-advised personal decision to go outside for more than a few seconds when the temperature is 25 degrees below zero could literally mean the difference between life and death. Safety must be the top priority in severe weather of all kinds. Having said that, a light-hearted outlook can still be appropriate, with or without dangerous conditions.
I checked online to see if Polar Vortex is the name of a rock band.
