The federal government shutdown is over, but the hyperbole continues.
Some of it came out of the office of new Wisconsin Treasurer Sarah Godlewski this week. She issued a press release Monday which said that “in the five weeks that our government was shut down without guardrails to protect employees, Wisconsinites experienced $25.7 million in lost wages. Wisconsin is home to almost 30,000 federal employees, and these hard-working employees deserve stronger protections that will ensure their economic security when the federal government fails them by no fault of their own.”
What Godlewski failed to point out is that the wages were not lost, they were delayed.
