Wilmer “Willy” M. Buechel, 81, of rural New Holstein, passed away peacefully Saturday, Jan. 5, 2019, with his family at his side.

He was born in Charlesburg on Dec. 16, 1937, to the late Norbert and Hildegard (Thuecks) Buechel.

He served in the Army Reserves.

On May 19, 1962, he married Elizabeth “Betty” Agnes Mueller at St. Mary’s Church, Chilton. Willy and Betty worked on their Dairy farm for over 40 years.

He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Marytown, the Lions Club, and local Veteran’s club.

Willy enjoyed bowling, hunting, over the limit fishing, John Deere tractors and especially spending time with family and friends.
Willy is survived by his wife Betty; six children, Michael (Shelly) Buechel, Sharon (Tom) Pieper, JoAnn Buechel, Deborah (Dean) Umlauft, Mark Buechel, Pamela Buechel; and six grandchildren. He is further survived by sisters and brothers, Evelyn (Jerome) Schleicher, Leonard (Donna) Buechel, Alvin (Janella) Buechel and Rita (Lyle) Wingers and sister-in-law Mariann Buechel. Preceding him in death were his parents, Norbert and Hildegard Buechel; and brother Clarence Buechel.

Family will greet relatives and friends at the funeral home Tuesday, Jan. 15 from 2 until 5:45 p.m. A Memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday at the Sippel Funeral Home, 2618 Altona Ave., New Holstein. The Rev. Carl Diederichs will officiate.
