Ralph M. Heus of Marytown went to meet his Lord on Sunday, Sept. 1, 2019, with his loving family at his side.
Ralph was born May 23, 1926 in Marytown to Germain and Grace (Reichling) Heus. On June 1, 1957 he married Olga (Daun) Woelfel at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in New Holstein; Olga preceded him in death on July 31, 1969. On Oct. 29, 1971 he married Shirley (Wieland) Will at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in New Holstein; Shirley preceded him in death on Dec. 6, 2014.
Ralph’s children are Connie (Joe) Julka and her children Richard (special friend Patricia), Randy (Marilyn), and Lori (Jon) Powers; Allen (Judy) Heus and their children Tim (Heather), Jodi (Brian) Michels, Christopher (Lindsay) and Melissa (Mike) Ninkovic; Gerry (Ellen) Heus and their children Neal (Kay), Eric (Ann), Tina (Steve) Ziebel, and Lisa (Dave) Meyer; Mike (Deb) Heus and their children Matthew (Jess) and Adam (Sarah); Kathy (John) Voelker and their children Zachary (Paige), Lauren, and Michael; Sharon (Gene) Jonet and their children Darrell (Alisha), Jesse (special friend Kristin), Brooke (Dave) Gauger, and Brittnie (Dan) Davister; Pat (Jim) Schultz and their children Steven (Stephanie), Sarah (special friend Dominic Bouressa), and Tyler (fiancé Heidi Tranel); Sue (Dean) Vollmer and their children Brianna (special friend Gavin Long) Brett and Kristi; Bob (Jody) Heus and their children Taylor, Carson, and Owen (special friend Ashley Lisowe); and Kris (Todd) Kultgen and their children Kyle and Luke.
Ralph’s step-children through marriage are Rose Schwetz and her children David (Todd) and Steven (Lida); Janet Johnson (special friend Joe Luniak) and her daughter Rebecca (Chad) Bleifuss; Sharon (Ron) Thelen and their children Dean (Renee), Brad (Paula), and Wesley (Anne); and Darryl (Linda) Will.
Ralph enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. He was surrounded with love by 14 children, 37 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Ralph is also survived by his sister, Alice Thielman; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Dorothy Wieland, Josine Schreiner, Anna Marie Daun, Ken Klotz, Betty Petrie Pockat and her husband Dan Pockat.
Ralph was preceded in death by his mother and father, Grace and Germain Heus; his first wife, Olga, and her first husband, Paul Woelfel; his second wife, Shirley, and her first husband, Edgar Will; his son, Allen; son-in-law Joe Julka; grandsons Robert Michael Heus and Brian Michels; step-son Darryl (Linda) Will; step-son-in-law Howard “Tom” Johnson; father-in-law and mother-in-law Henry and Anna Daun, Alex Sr. and Frances Woelfel, and Harry and Ora Wieland; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Roger Thielman, Sylvester (Sally), Ervin (Leona), Alfred (Otelia), Severen, Jerome (Eunice), LaVerne (Chibby) Daun, Paul Schreiner, Clarence (Shirley), Alex Jr. (Gladys), Donald (Alice Jane) and (Betty) Woelfel, Jerome (Delores) Kampfer, Robert (Doris) Turba, LaVern (Margaret) Halbach, Eleanor Klotz, Lloyd Petrie, and Harold “Bud” Wieland.
A Liturgy Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 7 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Marytown, N10232 CTH G, New Holstein. The Rev. Gary Wegner, OFM Cap, will officiate. Ralph will be laid to rest next to his first wife, Olga, in the parish cemetery following the Mass.
Family and friends may visit with Ralph’s family at St. Mary Church in Marytown on Friday, Sept. 6 from 3 to 7 p.m. and again at the church Saturday morning from 9 to 10:30 a.m.
There are so many people that were there for our dad for so many years; for that, we are eternally grateful. Please accept our family’s heart-felt appreciation. We would like to thank the staff at Homestead Care Center and Calumet County Hospice for making our dad’s last months and days as comfortable as possible. You truly are special people.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established in Ralph’s name to benefit the Marytown community.
