Donald T. Casper, 79 of Kiel, died peacefully on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2019, at the Homestead Care Center of New Holstein after a short stay surrounded by his family and friends.

Don was born on June 13, 1939, son of the late Sylvester and Ruth (Schreiber) Casper in the town of Liberty.

Don attended St. Gregory Catholic School, St. Nazianz where he graduated from in 1957.

Don served in the Army Reserves from 1957 until 1964.

On Oct. 1, 1960, he married Donna Mae Prange at Trinity Lutheran Church, Kiel. Together they celebrated 58 years of marriage.

Don worked at HG Webers, Kiel as a machinist, retiring in 2002. He also worked as a bartender for many years around the area. After his retirement he worked at WalMart in Chilton. In his freetime, Don enjoyed fishing up north, camping, and his bowling leagues. He was also a past member of the Louis Corners SnoBirds. Don and Donna together were very active with the Chilton and Kiel Senior Centers, organizing a sheepshead club at the Kiel location.

Don is survived by his wife of 58 years Donna Mae Casper of Kiel; two children, Diane (JP) Vanitgem of California and Dean Casper of Glendale; three grandsons, Henrik, Tristan and Diego, and his dog Packer. He is further survived by his siblings, Judy Peter, Jane (Ron) Binversie, Rachel Casper, Tom Casper, Paul (Sue) Casper, Mary (Dennis) Dedering and Ann (Greg) Behr; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Cathy Casper, Betty Casper, Paul Meyer, and Janet (Ed) Schneeweis; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends further survive. He was preceded in death by his parents; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lester and Lydia Prange; his siblings, Kenny and Wayne Casper, Katherine Meyer and an infant brother Joey; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dennis Peter, Gary Becker, Doris (Lloyd) Mahloch and William Prange.

A Memorial Service for Don will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 12 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 387 Cemetery Rd., Kiel. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. David Laabs with burial to be at Zion. Ev. Lutheran Cemetery, Louis Corners at a later date. Military Honors will be accorded by Kiel VFW Post #6707. The family will greet relatives and friends at church from 9 until the time of service at 11 a.m.

The family would like to thank all of the staff at the Homestead Care Center for the compassionate care given to Don and his family during his short stay.
