Bernadette Katherine “Betty” Moehn, 82, of Stockbridge, died on Wednesday, May 9, 2018, at Westhaven in Brillion.

She was born Oct. 14, 1935, in the town of Brothertown, daughter of the late Clemens and Margaret (Heimermann) Buechel.

Betty met George when he would come in to Hermie’s during lunch to order a malt. He was so smitten by Betty that he continued to come for malts. They eventually found moments to go out dancing together, and as they say, the rest was history. Betty and George were married on May 2, 1959, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Chilton and they farmed together in the town of Stockbridge where she also utilized the help of her children to raise a very large garden.

Betty was also employed by Tecumseh in New Holstein for 10 years, worked as a lunch lady at St. Mary Catholic School and worked part time at the Eagle’s Club in Chilton.

She was well known for her green thumb and canned 300-400 jars of pickles every year. Betty also was a wine maker and made sauerkraut in large crocks. As an expert baker, Betty would make home-made bread every Saturday morning and her dozens and dozens of Christmas Cookies every year were legendary.

In her free time, Betty enjoyed rousing games of Sheepshead, tending to her many crafts including ceramics and crocheting and time spent with her family.
