He was born July 23, 1935 to Anton and Margaret (Franzen) Meier.
Benedict attended St. Mary Catholic School through eighth grade and then had to help his parents on the family farm. On Oct. 3, 1964 he married Arlene Arenz at St. Mary Catholic Church in Chilton where they made their home. He was a member and former usher at St. Mary Catholic Church. He also belonged to and was still an active member of the Kohler Quarter Century Club and Union Local No. 833.
In his childhood and young adult years, Benedict helped work the family farm as well as helped other local farmers. In 1955, he started working at Kohler Company in Kohler. He retired from Kohler after 42 years of employment. Benedict also enjoyed tending bar at Kloten Oasis and many other places. After his retirement, he drove for the Aging & Disability Resource Center as a volunteer until his health deteriorated.
Ben and Arlene enjoyed taking bus trips within the U.S., making many new friends along the way. Ben also enjoyed time spent camping with his family. He enjoyed picking out hickory nuts, putting puzzles together, and doing word search puzzles.
The place that Ben and Arlene made the best of friends and memories was their summer home in Shawano which they purchased in 1991. Even though his health had been deteriorating, Arlene made sure to take him to Shawano to enjoy the place he dearly loved.
Benedict is survived by his wife of 54 years, Arlene; his two children, Steve (Debra) Meier and Linda Jensen; four grandchildren, Chris (Gayle) Uttech, Dylan Radder, Blake Meier, and Aaliyah Jensen; and three great-grandchildren.
