With the start of a new school year under way, Kiel School District officials want residents to know they take school safety very seriously.



According to Kiel Police Chief Dave Funkhouser, the department and the school district have worked together closely for many years, developing strategies and upgrading security measures yearly to provide as safe a school experience as possible for students.
“We have a great relationship,” Funkhouser said, adding a walk through of district buildings is done periodically to look for any needed improvements, and to make sure safety protocols are in place.
