Bandleader and accordionist Don Peachey was inducted into the International Polka Hall of Fame on Saturday, Aug. 6 in Cleveland, Ohio.
The induction ceremony took place at the 43rd Annual L.P.A. Music Awards Banquet held at the Double Tree Hotel. The semi-formal affair was themed "Let's Celebrate" and was held in conjunction with the organization's annual festival.
The Don Peachey Band has been playing one-nighters for 58 years. The band has recorded 15 CDs and appeared in 13 states. They have made an annual tour through Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas for 49 years. Their biggest hit recording was a novelty tune called "Horsie Keep Your Tail Up."
Peachey will be playing at Villa Loretto Nursing Home in Mount Calvary this Sunday, Aug. 28 starting at 11:30 a.m. during the facility's annual Fun Day on the Farm.
Peachey's hometown is Burnett, which is located between Beaver Dam and Waupun.
