A new component this year in the math curriculum at Divine Savior Catholic School in Kiel is Math Hoops.

This program is sponsored by the Milwaukee Bucks along with 22 other NBA teams. The school has 14 teams in the competition which began Nov. 18. A statewide competition is held in spring.
Math Hoops is a basketball board game using statistics from NBA and WNBA players in a fast-paced game requiring teams to complete four math problems, choose the shooter based on his/her statistics, and get off the shot (via a spinner), all within 30 seconds. Defensive players may steal based on finding an error in the math problem solutions. They may also foul a shooter if they find the free-throw shooting percentage is low.
