Fox Valley Technical College is hosting an informational session on its new grant-funded boot camp for individuals interested in pursuing welding as a career on Monday, July 9 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the college’s Advanced Manufacturing Technology Center (AMTC) at 4200 Poberezny Rd. in Oshkosh.

During the free session, college educators will cover topics such as attendance expectations, equipment and materials, and an internship component. After 30 days in the program students begin working under a paid internship arrangement with an area employer. Upon completion of the program, students earn a welding certificate and an opportunity to work for a local company. Students without a high school diploma can also enroll. Part of the offering is designed to help learners earn a high school credential, if applicable, with the support of a life coach while simultaneously learning a technical skill.
