Come out to Ledge View Nature Center on Tuesday, Sept. 17 to learn about non-mammal milk producers.

Maybe milk should appear in quotation marks, because—though it serves a similar purpose as nourishment for offspring—the milk in question is not a dairy product. It is the topic of September’s Adult Lunch Program lecture, over homemade soup, sandwich, and coffee. The program begins at noon, and is $5 per person. Please call the nature center about three days in advance to help staff get a headcount for the meal (849-1471).

The Friends of Ledge View Nature Center’s summer speaker series wraps up Saturday, Sept. 28 at 2 p.m. with a program by the Raptor Education Group, Inc. In reference to animals, raptors are birds of prey, such as hawks, owls, and eagles. REGI, of Antigo, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to education and to the care and rehabilitation of injured birds. Members will be bringing some live raptors and talking about features that are unique to these birds. The program is by donation.
