More than fifty people gathered to listen to Nadine Machkovech and Anthony Alvarado share their experiences with substance abuse and the need for open dialog as a way to combat addiction at the Rise Together event held recently in the Chilton High School library.

Rise Together is a grass roots organization founded in December 2013 by Alvarado and Douglas Darby, who are nationally recognized advocates.
Superintendent Sue Kaphingst thanked the Optimist Club, the Reach Coalition and the Community Foundation for their donation which brought the speakers to the school to share their message with fifth through twelfth grade students. Chilton Optimist Club President Mary Pagel introduced Catherine Ellis, a public health nurse with Calumet county and current coordinator of the Reach Coalition.
