A confirmed EF-1 tornado combined with straight-line winds up to 90 mph contributed to one of the worst storms to hit the area in decades Tuesday afternoon, Aug. 28.

The city of New Holstein took the brunt of the storm in this area, but considerable tree damage also took place in the city of Kiel and throughout the surrounding area.
The National Weather Service confirmed the EF-1 tornado touched down in the area of CTH X and Meggers Road near the Calumet/Manitowoc County Line, destroying a barn and uprooting several trees.
While no injuries were reported directly from the storm, a New Holstein area man went to the hospital after falling off a roof while starting to clean up storm debris.
