Calumet County Sheriff’s Office deputies and others saved two men on Lake Winnebago Thursday, July 18 when their boat capsized.
According to Lt. Derek Bries of the Sheriff’s Office, at around 7:21 p.m. the office received a report of a boat in distress on the lake near High Cliff State Park. Two men—ages 30 and 34, both from the Fox Valley area—were hanging on to the boat which had capsized.
Deputies from the Sheriff’s Office—along with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources conservation wardens and rangers from High Cliff State Park—responded to the area and were able to safely rescue the two men from the top of the overturned boat. Neither man complained of any injuries after the rescue.
The DNR is investigating the accident.
