The Husky Hands & Heart Leo Club showed off the recently received bench they earned from Trex Industries for collecting more than 500 pounds of plastic in six months prior to May.

The bench has been placed in the Lions Playland area of Kiwanis Park. Collection of plastic bags and other plastic materials was started as an environmental project to help keep plastic out of landfills through Trex Industries that uses the plastic to make benches and decking.  During the first six month period, 1,919 pounds of plastic was collected.

Contributing to the collection of plastic is A1 Polishing & Finishing,  Salvatorian Mission Warehouse,  New Holstein True Value, and Sargento Cheese.

Gathering around the new bench are (front, from left) Annika Damkot, Leo president; Ava Scholz, a Leo; and (back) Abby Voss, a Leo; Lainey Thelen and Al Lefeber of A1 Polishing & Finishing; Heather Holton, Salvatorian Mission Warehouse; Adam Scholz, a Leo; and Nicklos Koenigs, a Leo.
