Perhaps the most successful coach in Kiel football history, Mike Dressler has announced his retirement as leader of the Raiders.

The announcement comes after a historical 2019 season that saw the Raiders win a school record 13 games and advance to the state finals for the first time in school history losing the Division 4 championship game at Madison’s Camp Randall Stadium to Waukesha Catholic Memorial.

Under his direction, Kiel has a 9-6 career WIAA playoff game record. The school has ten total playoff wins since playoffs began in 1976.

Dressler came out of retirement to take over the Kiel program from Chris Bennin in 2013. His last three Kiel teams had claimed Eastern Wisconsin Conference titles and in his seven seasons as head coach, Kiel teams qualified for playoffs in six of those seasons. Kiel has won eight or more games in each of the past five seasons and their 13-game winning streak this past season was a school record.
Dressler previously coached at North Fond du Lac, Fond du Lac, Wausau West and Milwaukee Hamilton.
We are awaiting an official release from the Kiel Area School District.
