Kiel moved up a spot in the Eastern Wisconsin Conference softball standings to a tie for seventh place. Jerry Baeckman’s Raiders look for continued to improvement this spring.
The Kiel softball preview:

KIEL SOFTBALL
Head Coach
- Jerry Baeckman

2018 RECORD- 2-18 overall; 1-6 in the Eastern Wisconsin Conference (Tie for 7th Place).

2018 REVIEW: The victories came over New Holstein (2-1) and Nekoosa (4-3) at the Manitowoc Roncalli Tournament in a season shortened by horrible April weather. That forced the conference schedule to be reduced in half. Grace Swanson was voted Honorable Mention All-Eastern Wisconsin Conference as an infielder. Claire Tenor (infield/outfield) and pitcher Melissa Sixel were the lone seniors, but both were key contributors.

2019 PREVIEW:
Grace Swanson heads a list of 11 returning letter winners for the Raiders and is one of just four seniors on the 14 player roster. Infielder Emily Suchan and outfielders Olivia Klein and Jessica Lemke are the others. Infielder Kellie Walsdorf is the lone Junior letter winner while returning sophomores include outfielder Emily Swanson, catcher Hannah Steinke and infielders Erin Swanson, Elizabeth Suchan, Kasey Schaefer, Analiese Olig and Andrea Meyer. Junior infielder McKensie Hickman and sophomore outfielder MacYana Stecker round out the roster. The number one priority for coach Baeckman will be finding a replacement for pitcher Melissa Sixel.
