On Sept. 11 the Old Glory Honor Flight flew 94 northeastern Wisconsin war veterans from Appleton to Washington, D.C. to experience the monuments and memorials constructed in their honor in the nation’s capital. New Holstein resident James Stecker, a Korean War veteran, received a memorable “Thank You” from a South Korean couple while at the Korean War Memorial. Their broken English was complimented by the banner that they held remembering the sacrifices made by soldiers who fought for their freedom and peace in Korea.
