While the 28th Annual Kiel Ice Sculpting Contest may be just under a month away, the sign up deadline for carving teams and sponsors is coming up fast.

The success of this event depends on the participation of both carving teams and sponsors. In order to reserve the block(s) of ice for carving teams need to complete an entry form no later than January 18. Cost is $100 per block for all entries. Entries forms can be found online at www.kielwi.org.
As always, teams may opt for more than one block if they choose.
Ice Sculpture contact person Shawn Mangan said carving teams and sponsors are being sought at this time, and encourages all who are interested to get signed up now.
Size of the blocks will be the same as last year—40 inches tall by 20 by 11.
The 2019 Kiel Ice Sculpture contest has been set for Saturday, February 2.
Competition will be held in categories, including past adult champions, adult, high school, youth and first timers.
All awards will be announced online (www.iwantthenews.com & www.kielwi.org) and at the Ice Sculpting Headquarters at the end of the day Saturday, February 2.
Carvers are asked to complete their ice sculptures between 8:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Judges will determine winners in the traditional divisions.
The headquarters for Ice Sculpture will be the front office at Delta Publications, 606 Fremont Street.
The headquarters for ice sculpture will be open at 8 a.m. on February 3 for everyone to stop in to sign their mandatory liability waivers.
In addition, you may pick up ice chippers for a $10 deposit. Chippers may be returned to the HQ by 2:30 p.m. for a refund of that deposit.
Just a reminder to all. If you wish to sponsor a block(s) of ice, but don’t have carvers, the organizers can try to locate a carving team for you. Likewise, if you have carvers, but need a sponsor, please contact Mangan at 286-0501.
