The New Holstein and Kiel police departments are hosting a recruitment open house for the Police Explorer Program on Monday, Nov. 12 starting at 6 p.m. at the New Holstein Police Department, 2110 Washington St., New Holstein.

The Police Explorer program is designed to give youths ages 14 to 20 an opportunity to explore a career in law enforcement. Participants are able to gain knowledge of the law enforcement profession through hands-on and classroom instruction. They also have an opportunity to participate in yearly competitions with other law enforcement Explorers.
The New Holstein and Kiel Police Explorers also provide many hours of community service work and assisting the police departments at community events.
All youths and their parents who are interested in the program are encouraged to attend the open house to find out more about the program. Members of the Explorer Post must be at least 14 years of age and have completed the eighth grade. They must also maintain a “C” or better grade point average.
Any questions regarding the program should be directed to either Officer Kurt Stephany, 898-4241, or e-mail at Stephany.kurtis@ci.new-holstein.wi.us.
The Police Explorer Post is open to students in Calumet, Fond du Lac, Manitowoc, and Sheboygan counties.
