At the Dec. 17 Chilton Common Council meeting, the council approved pay increases for all municipal employees.

While not every ordinance received a unanimous vote, each ordinance did pass. The pay increases were set at 2 percent, as previously determined during the budget process. Most notably, the annual salary for the chief of police will be $87,780; the police captain, $73,150; the city clerk/treasurer/administrative coordinator, $88,275. The hourly pay rate for Public Works employees ranges between $20.26 and $27.72, depending on duty, function, and training. The interim Utility & Street Department director is paid at an hourly rate of $32.
