Big Fish draws big audiences
The 2018 Spring Musical performance of Big Fish, drew big crowds to the Castle Theater and Kiel High School. The finale was held April 28, following a postponement by a major April snowstorm. The American Red Cross Bloodmobile is planning to be at the New Holstein Community Center on the south end of Kiwanis Park from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. All blood types are needed. Donors must be at least 17 years old and weigh 110 pounds or more. A blood donor card or driver’s license, or two other forms of identification, are required at check-in. Appointments are preferred but walk-ins are welcome. For an appointment visit redcrossblood.org and enter sponsor code “New Holstein WI” or call 1-800-733-2769. A free homemade lunch will be provided to all presenting donors.

Rick’s Piggly Wiggly and the City of Kiel Police Department are teaming up to offer a kids fun day and bike rodeo. The event is scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon. Children and adults can bring their bikes to the Kiel Piggly Wiggly parking lot where many events will be taking place. The Kiel Police Department will be offering an obstacle course for riders to learn the rules of the road and bike safety with help from the Kiel Optimist Club. All participants in this event will receive a free bike helmet (while supplies last). There also will be a chance for Kiel residents to register their bikes. The registration fee will be paid for by Rick’s Piggly Wiggly. Rick’s Piggly Wiggly will be offering free cookie decorating for children 12 and under from 9 a.m. to noon with samplings throughout the store, goodie bags and free root beer floats. Kids also can register in the store for bike giveaways as well as many other prizes. Questions regarding the event can be directed to Rick’s Piggly Wiggly, 894-2445.

The Kiel FFA “Helping Hands” Auction will immediately follow the 6 p.m. annual Awards Banquet. Time blocks of four hours will be available to bid on, in which a FFA member will donate four hours of labor to do projects around the home, business or farm. A large variety of donated items are auctioned off as well. To donate items for this auction, drop them off at the Kiel High School office no later than Friday, April 26. This event is free and open to everyone.
