New Husky golf coach Peter Hofmeister
New Husky golf coach Peter Hofmeister
A new coach and new optimism for the Husky golf program this spring. JV coach Peter Hofmeister moves up the ranks to take over for Seth Neilsen who is teaching and coaching in Wisconsin Dells. Hofmeister faces a small rebuild project, but NH could be a team to keep an eye on.
The New Holstein golf preview:

NEW HOLSTEIN GOLF
Head Coach- Peter Hofmeister

2016 RECORD- 7th in overall EWC Standings; 7th at WIAA Division 2 Winnebago Lutheran Regional; No state qualifiers.

2016 REVIEW: The Huskies were either sixth or seventh in all EWC Mini-Tour events and never made a serious charge to the top half of the conference. The bright spot was Bryce Karrels who was a sectional qualifier. He was one of six seniors on the roster with the others being Skyler Feuerstein, Mitch Klotz, Collin Scholz, Brandon Schrage and Nathan Schroeder. No Husky golfer scored any all-conference points.

2017 PREVIEW: The Huskies will definitely have a new look. The only varsity returnees are Trevin Nelson and Ryan Steffes. But don’t worry.
New Holstein had the top JV team in the conference a year ago and the varsity lineup this year will benefit from that. Those prospects include Carson Heus, Kyle Hellman, Jacob Thiel, Ben Andrew, Calvin Leverenz and Owen Olson. Hofmeister will have one of the largest rosters in the EWC as over 20 kids are out for the sport.
As far as the conference season goes, it is the first time in eight years that powerhouse Sheboygan Falls does not have a Bachmann in the lineup, but despite a senior-oriented team of a year ago, the Falcons may still be a slight favorite. Valders, Chilton and Roncalli will be solid. NH will be the team to watch.
