Chilton’s Gavin Lisowe takes Jacob Dziekan of Wisconsin Lutheran to the mat on his way to a quarterfinal round win Saturday at the WIAA Division 2 Milwaukee Lutheran Sectional.
For the 12th consecutive season, Chilton will be represented at the WIAA State Individual Wrestling Championships. Abe Sell and PJ Ladd are the qualifiers this winter following action last Saturday in the WIAA Division 2 Milwaukee Lutheran Sectional. They were close calls, but made it as third place finishers.

After an opening round victory by pin at 132 pounds, Sell suffered a semifinal loss to Ripon’s Ryan Cody to send the junior to the consolation bracket where he bounced back to pin two straight foes in the first period in Adler Henn of Wisconsin Lutheran and Kyle Anderson of Waukesha Catholic Memorial to gain his second trip to state. Sell took fourth as a freshman at 120 pounds in 2015. He went to school abroad last year and did not wrestle.
He brings a 43-3 mark to the Kohl Center Thursday night for his first round match with Mitchel Harmon (26-8), a freshman from Bloomer/Colfax. That winner advances to Friday morning’s quarterfinal against Jordan Sarver (40-4), a senior from Nekoosa/Wisconsin Rapids Assumption/Port Edwards.

Ladd debuts at state

A senior, Ladd traveled a similar road to Madison. He beat Lomira’s Nate Thomas in a quarterfinal major decision before losing a 9-8 decision in the semifinals to Mikey Rohleder of Greendale Martin Lutheran. He bounced back to beat Garret Davis of Cedar Grove-Belgium and Mason Ksioszk of Campbellsport to make state for the first time. He is 43-5 on the year and faces Viroqua’s Dalton Bernett (40-10), a senior, in their 160 pound first round match with Anders Lantz (39-5) of Ellsworth awaiting the winner Friday afternoon.

Other sectional results
Gaven Lisowe just missed making it to state. He was 2-2 at 145 pounds and lost on a pin to Campbellsport’s Bennett Marchant for the final state berth there. Garrett Casper went 1-2 at 182 while Chilton/Hilbert’s other sectional wrestlers did not place. They were Joe Boehnlein (106), Peyton Ladd (113), Mavrik Ott (120), Jax Pritchard (126), Kaiden Mikalowsky (152) and Noah Koehler (220).
