BVC swimmers 10th at Small School State
The State Small School Boys Swimming & Diving Invitational brings together most of the top Division 2 schools for a pre-post season invite. Last Saturday, Shorewood was the host for this season’s event and Brillion/Valders/Chilton turned in some solid performances as they tied Port Washington for tenth place in the final team standings with 104 points. Monona Grove easily won the 18-school meet scoring 409.
Diver Jose Martinez looks like a good bet to return to state as he placed second behind Plymouth’s Riley Josephs with 332.50 points.
In swim events, the 200 medley relay team of Bo Geiger, Parker Sonnabend, Eli Riesterer and Isaac Koehler, had the highest BVC finish coming in seventh at 1:50.98.
Other top ten finishers included Riesterer with an eighth place time of 59.30 seconds in the 100 yard butterfly while the 200 freestyle relay team of Riesterer, Peyton Van Rooy, Sonnabend and Geiger also came in eighth. Their time was 1:37.24. Scoring ninth place points was the 400 relay team of Riesterer, Koehler, Sonnabend and Geiger at 3:36.93.
Plymouth hosts the Eastern Wisconsin Conference Championships this Saturday.
Appleton West Diving
He was the only Division 2 diver in the field of 13, but it didn’t matter for Chilton’s Jose Martinez as he took fourth place at the recent Appleton West Diving Invitational. Martinez totaled 316.00 points in the 11-dive competition that was won by Matt Wilke of Appleton North/East with a new West High pool record of 531.20 points.
