Jeanette A. Stebnitz, 85, of St. Nazianz, Wisconsin, died on Sunday, April 16, 2017, Easter Sunday morning, at Manitowoc Health Care Center.

She was the former Jeanette A. Stiefvater, born on July 14, 1931, in the town of Liberty, daughter of the late Stephen and Antoinette (Gerhard) Stiefvater.

Jeanette grew up and lived all of her life in the St. Nazianz area.

She attended St. Gregory Grade School and was a 1949 graduate of Valders High School.

On June 18, 1949, she married Gaylord Stebnitz at St. Gregory Catholic Church, St. Nazianz. Gaylord preceded her in death in January of 1989.

Jeanette was employed at Tecumseh Products, New Holstein for 25 years, retiring in 1991. After retirement she kept busy working at Walmart for 18 years until 2007.

She was a member of the St. Nazianz American Legion Auxiliary, being both a past secretary and treasurer and was a member of St. Gregory Catholic Church where she was active with the Christian Women.

She also was a member of the Rim Rock Riders, Timberline Riders and was a 4-H leader.

Survivors include her nine children, Scott (Barbara) Stebnitz of Two Rivers, Greg Stebnitz of St. Nazianz, Barbara (Richard) Kautzer of Manitowoc, Al Stebnitz (Shelia Free) of Manitowoc, Judith (Robert) Voss of Valders, Ann (Tim) Ewen of Manitowoc, Noel Stebnitz (Jeff Freitas) of San Jose, California, Mary (Michael) White of Sheboygan, Kay (Barry) Blatz of Kiel and her pet dog and companion Penny. She is further survived by 17 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; five sisters-in-law, Virginia Wojta, Barb Stiefvater, Sheri Stiefvater, Karen LeMahieu, Marie Stebnitz; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Gaylord; her parents, Stephen and Antoinette Stiefvater; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Edward and Minnie Stebnitz; and brothers and sisters; Margaret (Clem) Weber, Lawrence (Verna) Stiefvater, Herbert (Gwen) Stiefvater, Isabel (Edmund) Lindner, Anthony “Tony” (Aurelia) Stiefvater, John (Marion) Stiefvater, Loretta Stiefvater, Bernard (Ethel) Stiefvater, Frank Stiefvater, Richard Stiefvater, Louis Stiefvater, Adeline Stiefvater and Clement Stiefvater. She is further preceded in death by four brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law, Florence (Gilmen) Solheim. Ann (George) Shower, Blanch (Oscar) Thoni and Ted Stebnitz.

The Funeral Mass for Jeanette will be celebrated on Thursday April 20 at 11 a.m. at St. Gregory Catholic Church (212 Church St., St. Nazianz) with Fr. Patrick Nelson S.D.S. officiating assisted by Deacon Bernard “Pat” Knier. Burial will take place in the church cemetery. Family and friends may call at the church on Wednesday April 19 from 4 until 7 p.m. and at the church on Thursday from 9:30 until 10:45 a.m. when we will have family rites prior to Mass.

In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in her name.
